The start of a new era?

On the 1st July 2008 the Society's website was transformed into a blog. This now gives us the facility to have access to it ourselves, and enables us to keep members, visitors and others, as up to date with our affairs as possible.

The potential for the blog is only limited by the imagination of contributors, and those who have ideas that are appropriate, that would make it a "must visit" site, I would encourage them to contact me with them. From a personal point of view it is my intention to keep everybody up to date with what I am trying to do to make the Society the largest, most successful and relevant in Lancashire. I also aim, on behalf of it's members, visitors and potential visitors, whether they are active field naturalists or armchair enthusiasts, to make the Society's talks an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

I will also attempt to keep everybody up to date with what I am doing to advertise the affairs of the Society, with what is a myriad of opportunities. It's difficult to know which will be most effective, so I am trying to cover as many as possible.

The programme of illustrated talks starts on Monday 29th September with a "Penguin Safari to the Falklands" with Peter Kirk of Cheshire. Please see the "What's On" page for a full list of talks.

Best wishes to all..............Steve Halliwell (Secretary)
