Welcome

We are a society that meets each Monday evening from September through to March to enjoy a programme of talks based around a wide variety of natural history subjects. During the Summer months we also meet on Monday evenings for a walk round local sites of interest.
If you share a similar enthusiasm in natural history come along and join us. Please do not feel you need to be an expert in any particular field, all levels of inexperience are welcome!

AUDIENCE RECORD BROKEN YET AGAIN!

The talk by John Critchley on Monday 9th November, "Antarctic Oasis" a.k.a. "Bird Island - Antarctica" attracted a massive 115 people. That's the third time this season we have attracted more than 100. John's talk was extremely good, with superb photographs of several species of Albatrosses and Penguins, as well as many other.
*
Not many, if any of the audience will have gone away dissapointed, which is even more gratifying from the Society's point of view.
*
We have a trilogy of talks leading up to Christmas which promise to be equally as good, and I would encourage attendees to come early to get a good seat. You will find details elsewhere on the website, but for ease I repeat them here:

Monday 23rd November:  "Shropshire's Magnificent Peregrines"
                                          with Jim Almond of Telford.

Monday 30th November:  "Snowy Owl - King of the Arctic"
A Super-8 Cine-film with Gordon Yates of Rochdale.

Mon. 7th December:"The Ultimate Pelagic"Auckland to Tokyo"
(Bird watching at sea -usually rough- from a boat - often small)
with Dr. Tom Lawson of York.
