Date: Sunday 9th October 2016
Weather: Weather fine, sunny autumn day
Park: Lancashire Wildlife Trust Car Park
Leader: Dave Winnard
Party Number: 16
We arrived at Lancashire Wildlife Trust Car Park and were met by Dave Winnard the talk leader. We walked into Cuerden Valley Country Park to observe the fungi. He said that because it was unusually dry the amount of fungi visible would be diminished. Even so he found several locations which were damp enough to sustain interesting fungi. He explained the family groups and fundamental aspects of the fungi and passed round samples for inspection by the group. Some fungi were actually pointed out by members giving an interactive mood to the walk. The two hours passed very quickly being very informative and hands on. Finally before we dispersed Janet Wall gave Dave thanks on behalf of the members.
