A record number of people met on a breezy evening to search for the elusive Cuckoo and set off to walk along the valley south. Some saw a lone Osprey flying with 2 Gulls.
Walked to the top of Anglezarke Reservoir before returning via the cycleway. The Cuckoo was heard then suddenly flew past and into a small Hawthorn.
The moon came up over Stronstrey Bank as we walked back.
I had spoken to Gary Lilley from Chorley Nats. He pointed out birds for a short time. I thanked him for his kind help.
Some of the party retired to The Red Lion at Wheelton and sat in on a Quiz Night and were rewarded with a bowl of freshly made chips.
The evening was slightly spoiled because of the overcast and breezy conditions. This meant that some of the smaller birds couldn’t be heard.
