Venue: Wrea Green
Date: Monday 22nd May 2017
Weather: Fine Sunny breezy
Leader: Graham Thomas
Party Number: 15
A party of 15 people met in Wrea Green on a sunny but breezy evening and walked around the Green then left down Mill Lane. At one point a converted windmill could be seen to the left. We passed through Shepherd's Farm and down a hedged track which was full of bird-life. We looked in every field for wildlife. At the bottom of the track we came across a large area of solar panels to the left. The way ahead was across a large field of barley but we didn’t want to walk through it as it would have been hard going. We found a way through by walking down a tractor track to the bottom of the field then to the left at the bottom along a ditch to pick up the right of way at a footbridge. We walked across a rough field then passed under the railway and into the yard of North Farm. The farmer’s wife came out to talk to us.
We walked down the access to a bend where a path here cut the corner off.
The return journey was up Lytham Road back to Wrea Green. This was a long way and the going was tough. It was quite a long evening but there was no other way unless we had gone back the same way.
7 people retired to The Grapes for refreshments. A fitting end to a lovely Summers evening.
